Can you imagine looking in James Bond's beside drawer? Next to the Walther PPK you would find the most luxurious watch collection, packed with a few extra spy goodies from the Quartermaster I'm sure. Rolex, Breitling, Seiko and Tag Heuer pieces would all be on hand to wear with the latest Tom Ford ivory dinner jacket. The watches of Bond are iconic and since Pierce Brosnan graced our screens in 1995's Goldeneye, the OMEGA Seamaster has been 007's watch of choice.
The seventh James Bond Daniel Craig recently visited the OMEGA factory in Villeret, Switzerland. There the avid watch collector spoke about his fascination with the engineering and expertise on show at OMEGA. "I think what was so impressive was the fact that these watches are made from the ground up. You start with nothing, and then there's suddenly a working watch. That's the beauty of it. To see the engineering that goes into it and the legacy that goes into it, that's what fascinated me." said Mr Craig.
The OMEGA Seamaster 300 "SPECTRE" limited edition features a bi-directional, rotating diving bezel, made from black, polished ceramic, combined with a LiquidMetal (R) 12 hour scale, so that time can be kept with any country in the world. Ever on trend the watch features a 5-stripe black and grey NATO strap (did you know Sean Connery rocked a NATO strap on his Rolex Submariner in Goldfinger?) "lollipop" central second hands and a 007 engraved gun logo on the bracelet strap. Driven by the highly innovative OMEGA master Co-Axial calibre 8400, this watch is as sexy as a Aston Martin DB10!
For the first time 7, 007 (love it) pieces will be available in selected Australian boutiques. Until now only commemorative editions have been used to celebrate OMEGA's link with the franchise, now fans and watch collectors alike will be able to own this very cool and trendy Bond watch. Martini anyone?
