Kids and watches. It can be a volatile combination like popcorn and cleavage or Lego and bare feat. It's not easy to find the perfect watch blend for a little person. Price, quality and age specificity are all relevant factors but fear not, like all good parents I have used the free labour of my children to road test a couple of new cool watches in the market, perfect gifts for Christmas. Hopefully this will save you searching and give you a little more time to work on finding that popcorn.
Moochies: Wrist Worn Mobile- The Safety Combo
If you want to stalk your child (cue cottonwool parenting debate) then I have found the device for you!!! The Moochies watch is a two-way mobile-watch communication device that is the latest in Hi Tech kids gadgets. All jokes aside you can see that they have innovatively tried to think about the balance of design, safety, functionality and age appropriateness in an era where balancing independence and safety is not as easy as it used to be. Designed for children aged 3-12, it enables children to make calls to two phone numbers that are entered using an app on the parent’s smart phone.
If your child is at an age or does so many after school activities you may consider it time for a phone then this could be a great in-between solution. It features an SOS button, safe zone and GPS tracking (so cool don't hate me) all packaged in four great designs. Master Seven thought the design was really cool and after a bit of a play I think most parents or guardians would be able to work their way through the app. The phones are made with a high quality silicone strap so hopefully they won't loose it and has LED screen which can display date, time, signal strength and caller ID. RRP $119.99 More info http://www.moochiesforkids.com.au/
Disney: Original Mickey Collection- The Classic Combo
When the choice is Mickey or Minnie how do you pick? Me, I am slightly biased toward Minnie she's so sassy! The Disney Original Mickey Collection is a great choice for the tween to teen market. Available in Red, Black and White straps they are conservative enough to get through the strictest uniform policy but still cute enough to love. Starting at $59.00 they are available at Myer nationally and selected independent jewellers.
Smiggle: Watch this space- The Cool Kids Combo
When you say Smiggle do all girls under twelve simultaneously scream? I don't get it but they and the smart people at Smiggle do! This is Smiggle’s most popular watch. Just press the screen and the time will flash… but be ready to read it as it disappears in 5 seconds! Miss Nine thinks this one is awesome and with the ever rapidly changing trends in tween land at $29.95 it's perfect. Watch This Space Graphic is available in pink, blue, purple, black and mid-blue.
